PEORIA, Ill.---Right wing Spencer Machacek lit the lamp 2:07 into overtime to lift the Chicago Wolves to a 3-2 victory over the Peoria Rivermen at Carver Arena Friday night.
Defenseman Paul Postma and center Jared Ross potted the other goals for Chicago, which picked up its fourth straight win.
Machacek scored the game-winning goal when he put home a rebound from the side of the crease past Peoria goaltender Ben Bishop 2:07 into the extra session.
Peoria (12-7-1-1) opened scoring under a minute into the first period when right wing Derek Nesbitt took a rebound off of Chicago goaltender Peter Mannino and shot it into the open side of the net.
Chicago (10-11-1-0) tied the score at one at the seven minute mark of the first period when Postma fired a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle past Bishop, stick side.
The Wolves took a 2-1 lead 10:36 into the second period when Ross scored on a breakaway sending the puck past Bishop, top shelf.
Bishop (6-7-1) recorded 25 saves.
The Rivermen tied the score 2-2, 4:43 into the third frame when center Dave Scatchard grabbed the rebound off of the glass and pushed the puck into the net past an outstretched Mannino.
Mannino (5-3-0) kicked out 33 of 35 shots to collect his fourth straight win.
The Wolves play the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Allstate Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
