The win by the Czechs, which was secured with a 2-1 victory over the Russian Team in the gold medal game, snapped a 27-game win streak for Russia at the World Championships.
Pavelec, who also represented the Czech Republic at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, backed up goaltender Tomas Voukon in the tournament. He turned aside 12 of the 15 shots he faced in his one game, a 3-2 loss to Norway during the preliminary round.
